On The Big Picture Podcast, John Krasinski stated that he originally did not want to be involved in this sequel, but the producer convinced him to come over and pitch his ideas to the studio. After three weeks, they asked him to write the story, with the idea that directorial duties would be handed over to other filmmakers. Krasinski finally offered to come back as director, jokingly suggesting that he was "Jedi mind tricked into signing on to the sequel."
According to John Krasinski, in the opening town scene he passes by "Brody's Pizzeria", a nod to the character Chief Brody from Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975).
The youngest son Beau is played by young actor Cade Woodward in the first film. In the flashback scenes of the second movie, Beau is played by Cade's younger brother Dean Woodward
The film's budget was three times the size of the first film.
Brian Tyree Henry was originally cast but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Djimon Hounsou replaced him while the movie was already into production.
Lauren-Ashley Cristiano's debut.
Emily Blunt admitted that she was initially hesitant to join the project as she didn't feel like she could top the first movie. However, she was on board after she heard John Krasinski 's pitch of the first bus scene. She also admitted that the first take of that scene is in the movie as she was also terrified in real life by the stunt, which had the bus coming at her at 40 miles per hour.
There are no lines dialogue in the last 17 1/2 minutes of the film.
Despite being one of the main cast listed John Krasinski has less than 10 minutes of screen time.
John Krasinski has said he wrote the first film as a love letter to his children. This is something he wanted to continue and that's why he wanted to write himself into the new film's opening.
Just watched it, the movie felt too short 🙁 way better than the first movie IMO.

This movie is a true follower in Kings definition of a true Horror movie thru the Danse Macabre! It is the ultimate suspense horror movie without the gross out people expect to see these days!The 1st was the best But they actually kept the horror and suspense up thru the 2nd! Great Job!
Whenever you watch movie, just think native Americans as humans and Europeans as aliens attacking them. It will change your perspective. You will understand horrors of slavery and mass killings 500 years ago.

So the cgi monsters are relentlessly gonna attack every tree because they rustle in the wind? Kind of moronic setup LOL with all the classic jumpscare crap that anyone with double digit IQ can spot a mile away.
