Before I tell you about this awesome trip, many people have asked me about how I get data to post so many stories while abroad (including the landing lives!). I have always spent lots of money on roam but I recently discovered ilocalme and wanted to share with you. They use an esim technology which is super cool. No, this is not a sponsored post. I really liked their product and voluntary offered to share here with you – I DO NOT make any commission on this. Below is the link if you would like to try:

Now onto our boy A6-EVN, aka Emirates Victor Noel.

Emirates had announced that they would get into Premium Economy about two years ago and I remember being present at the ATM (Arabian Travel Market) when Tim Clark spoke about it. Side note: it was a memorable meeting as it was the first time I saw him in person. I gave one of my skywardsfreak business cards and said: Hi, I am the Skywardsfreak. He laughed and I knew he got me 🙂

Anyways, fast forward to 2020, the world’s worst crisis hit aviation and the launch plans were placed on hold. We had to wait…

But at last, on December 24th 2020, exactly on Christmas Eve, our baby boy A6-EVN – Emirates first Airbus A380 to feature Premium Economy – arrived in Dubai in time for Christmas. I went to spot him from my roof at 2am… obviously!

Emirates scheduled his first flight for January 4 2021 and without hesitation I immediately booked – a turnaround flight EK3 on the DXB-LHR and EK4 on the LHR-DXB return.

An on January 4, there was I… I take you with me through this journey of being the first and only person to be on both legs on A6-EVNs first commercial flight.

Below are some info, highlighted by Emirates regarding their new product. Feel free to drop a comment on the video or send me a DM on instagram if you have any questions about my persona experience.

With a generous pitch of up to 40-inches, Emirates’ premium economy seat is 19.5 inches wide, and reclines 8 inches into a comfortable cradle position with ample room to stretch out. Covered in cream-coloured anti-stain leather with stitching details and a wood panel finishing similar to Business Class, each seat is designed to provide optimal comfort and support with 6-way adjustable headrests, calf rests and footrests.

Each seat has a 13.3” screen, one of the largest in its class, to enjoy the unmatched array of music, movies, TV, news and other content on Emirates’ award-winning ice.

Customers will also find thoughtful touches including easily accessible in-seat charging points, a wide dining table and side cocktail table.

Emirates Premium Economy is located at the front of the main deck, with 3 lavatories dedicated to customers.

Commenting on Emirates’ premium economy cabins, Sir Tim said: “Our Premium Economy product was carefully developed in keeping with Emirates’ brand positioning as a full-service airline of the highest quality. Our First, Business and Economy experiences reset industry standards when they were introduced, and we are confident that our Premium Economy will also make its mark as a distinct premium offering. Until we have a viable number of seats in our inventory to bring to market, we plan to offer the Emirates Premium Economy experience as a complimentary upgrade to valued customers. We’ll also deploy our newest A380 aircraft on various routes so that our customers can experience our latest offering in all classes.”

Emirates remaining order of 5 A380s will also be delivered with premium economy cabins over 2021 and 2022. Emirates’ premium economy seats will also be installed on some of its Boeing 777X aircraft which are only due to join the fleet in 2023. Emirates is considering plans to retrofit its existing A380 fleet.

  1. Love the start of the video – 24 DEC. Air NZ have one of the best PE products but it looks like EK just took over P1 position. I have flown EK in J and F and love the product and just love the 380's. Great choice of music for this video too 🙂 Good job

  2. Thanks for sharing. The new PE seat looks comfortable and has a great recline. Catering not on the same league as BR which is the benchmark. During a pandemic in which distance and less pax on a plane are the best perks and for health reason, sitting in a full cabin with 2-4-2 seating is tempting to be sick inspite desinfection and mask. The best option smaller plane, less pax onboard, more distance from one another and short flight duration/taking stopovers to get some fresh air and lowering risk of being infected. Unfortunately I only think of two seats which are oprimal the new generation First Class Suite of EK and SQ. Fully enclosed suites.

  3. Still Airport's empty
Aircraft interior is chic, if middle seat or window seat passenger wants to move out it will be disturbance for aisle sear passengers when seat is reclined.
Food lives up to Emirates brand status.

  4. Over the last decade Emirates has gone down the hill. In the name of going environment friendly and sustainability they have cut down on not only quality service (for which they were famous and rewarded for) even the quality of cabin crew has suffered hugely.
The administration of Emirates is full of greedy and incompetent individuals who have ruined it and placed this 5 star airline at par with budget airlines of Europe, Asia or America. The way they handled the refund policy after COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in March 2020 was very unfortunate and unprofessional, very sad to see a favourite airline of its customers getting bullied and ripped off.

  5. When I lived in Switzerland the house had a fall-out shelter but I didn't have to climb a ladder. 😃Does anyone else dislike Vloggers wearing their own branded Plague masks and shirts? Sam Chui, Josh Cahill, Noel Phillips, et al. It just screams 'Comp Me'! Chui is the master of that. 🤔
